Osborne Naval Shipyard Expansion
Defence-critical shipbuilding precinct expansion. Site works, heavy lift, module delivery, and facility construction across a multi-year programme.

The Osborne Naval Shipyard is the cornerstone of Australia's continuous naval shipbuilding program, hosting ASC's submarine facilities and BAE Systems Maritime Australia's surface shipbuilding. Current expansion supports the Hunter-class frigate program, upgrades to Collins-class submarine maintenance, and the planned transition to AUKUS-related SSN-AUKUS submarine construction facilities over the 2030s and 2040s.
Scope includes new hall extensions at ASC North for submarine sustainment, significant expansion at ASC South for Hunter-class frigate build halls, wharf upgrades, secure logistics and module movement infrastructure, and supporting facilities. Further precinct work is being planned to accommodate SSN-AUKUS construction requirements.
Defence infrastructure authorities and prime contractors have been progressing individual works packages over multiple years. Funding is backed by the Commonwealth under successive Defence budgets and the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine pathway.
Equipment demand spans civil site works, heavy lift for module and hall construction, marine works including wharf and dredging, and logistics plant for module movement. Specialist defence security clearances limit the contractor field, with Tier-1 civil and marine subcontractors securing most major packages.
Defence work is government-backed with predictable milestone payments — lenders view these favourably for contract-aligned structures.
