Pacific Highway Upgrade — Coffs Harbour Bypass
Coffs Harbour bypass construction. Bulk earthworks, bridges, and haulage subcontracting packages.
The Coffs Harbour Bypass is the final major package of the decades-long Pacific Highway upgrade program, removing the last through-traffic section where the coastal highway still passes directly through a regional CBD. It delivers significant freight and commuter improvement between Sydney and Brisbane via the eastern coastal corridor.
Scope includes 14km of new four-lane divided highway alignment, three short tunnels (Roberts Hill, Shephards Lane, Gatelys Road), multiple bridges and interchanges, connector road works, and local road integration with existing Coffs Harbour streets. The project significantly alters the local transport pattern and includes noise and environmental amenity treatments in adjacent residential areas.
Transport for NSW is delivering the project through a Tier-1 contractor. Bulk earthworks, tunnel portal excavation and bridge works are underway across multiple work fronts. Completion is targeted for the latter 2020s depending on progression of tunnel works and finishing packages.
Equipment demand is heavy in bulk earthworks, haulage, tunnel portal support, bridge works, and road paving. Regional civil operators in the Mid North Coast can align into sub-tier subcontracts through the primary contractor, with continuous work fronts through completion.
Regional civil operators can align finance to named subcontract awards.
